Reading with me
JJ loves books. One of his first words and signs was "book" :) And one of his favorite books is Sandra Boynton's Moo Baa La La La. So, yesterday, he brings me the book and hops up in my lap for me to read to him. I start off "The Cow say" and he interrupts me to say "Moo!" and then proceeded to fill in all the animal noises at all the right places (except the rhinos)! It was really cool - he's never done anything like that before. I was thrilled. Oh, and of course we get to the end and I read the last line "It's quiet now, what do YOU say?" and he says "Woof." LOL

Just turn to the funnies, Mom
Yesterday, JJ was sitting in my lap in our awesome nursery rocker and I am reading to him (A to Z by Sandra Boynton - a fairly predictable piece with some questionable terminology in the latter part of the alphabet, but that's neither here nor there). Since I had been nursing him earlier, I still had my shirt open. As I finish the first page, he turns to me, nurses for a couple of seconds, then turns back to the book and flips the page. After I finish the next two pages, he does the same thing again, like someone reading the paper and taking sips of coffee between pages. What a nut!

Turning pages!!
I was reading to JJ this morning before putting him down for a nap (today's selection was That's Not My Dinosaur - a gripping story with several unexpected plot twists - impressive for a 6 page board book ;)) when JJ reached up and turned the page! I thought, yeah well he's batting at stuff these days, it's just an accident. So, I'm reading the next page and he does it again! I read the whole book to him 3 more times (did I mention it's really short?) and he turned all the pages each time. Obviously not an accident at this point. How cool is that?!?
